Some might only be used for a short period only. Included are also those that are situated on the Islands surrounding the continent itself. There are over 100 Bases, Stations, Field Camps and Refuges in Antarctica belonging to a great variety of nations. Most bases are owned, operated and staffed by a single country, however, there are some stations that are shared between 2 or more countries.
