Seeking answers to Gondwanaland mystery

last update: Apr 01, 2008 10:16 AM

There once was a supercontinent called Gondwanaland. The present continents of South America, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica and the subcontinent of India were once part of it.

Five Chinese researchers are conducting the 24th Chinese expedition to the South Pole, in the hope to find answers to the mystery of the supercontinent.

They are part of the China Geological Survey Bureau and are conducting a series of geological inspections at the Amery Ice Shelf, the largest ice shelf in East Antarctica.
