Seal fur for £5

The International Fund for Animal Welfare said that thousands of seal pups are being clubbed to death so their fur can be sold for as little as £5 each. There also seems to be little interest in the meat.
The IFAW calls for an EU-wide ban on the import of seal products as they say that the trade was 'cruel, unnecessary and unsustainable'.
Sheryl Fink, spokeswoman for the IFAW said: 'The conditions of the hunt are not an environment in which you could have a humane kill.'
The annual kill quota of 275,000 baby seals has been set by the Canadian government.
The pelts are fetching a market price from £5 -25, and the buyers include international fashion houses, including Gucci, and British makers of Scottish sporrans.
