Paul Watson honoured

last update: Mar 21, 2008 10:04 AM

The Conservation Organisation Sea Shepherd's founder, Paul Watson, was honoured for his work protecting whales yesterday in Queensland Australia

Terri Irwin, the widow of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, named him a "Wildlife Warrior".

The anti-whaling vessel Watson is captain of was renamed "Steve Irwin" last year in honour of the conservationist who was killed last year.

His widow said that she knew her husband would have been proud of Watson's achievements to save 500 whales this season from being killed by the Japanese whalers.

Watson said "It was an extremely successful campaign, the Japanese have admitted they're not even going to get half their quota. If you find a whale that criticises or is upset about what we do, we'll pay attention."
