Chopper crash in Arctic claims three

Three people died and two were seriously injured when a Russian helicopter crashed in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard in the Arctic today. There were nine people on board.

Synnoeve Haga, information adviser for the governor of Svalbard; "Three of the passengers are confirmed dead and two others are seriously injured."

The accident happened while the helicopter tried to land near the Russian coal mining town of Barentsburg during bad weather.
