Antarctc Impact Studies

From 1997 environmental impact studies have been contuducted by the several people including Dr Tony Hansen of the Laurence Berkley National Laboratory with funding and support from the National Science Foundation.
Dr Hansen's reports (in PDF format) are an invaluable tool for the management of the US Antarctic program. In particular the studies have measured the polution generated by the Amundsen-Scott and McMurdo stations in relation to virgin areas of Antarctica and other research startions.
Although very detailed the data concerning the impact of electricity generation, aircraft fumes and other polutants is clearly accumulating in some of these high population and activity sites. Particularly the contamination near McMurdo the main port, airfied and logistics station.
