The organizations include National organizing committee, Honorary consultative committee and Sponsoring institutions.
THEMES
1. Mapping and modeling of permafrost in mountain and arid land regions which includes a number of the topics such, as distribution, thickness, temperature regime, cryogenic structure and evolution of permafrost, seasonal freezing, periglacial processes and their mapping.
2. Monitoring and engineering of permafrost in mountain and arid land regions which include a number of the topics such, as monitoring for dynamics of permafrost, active layer and cryogenic processes and permafrost engineering features and techniques for constructions.
PROGRAM
The Symposium on mountain and arid land permafrost will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, August 22-24, 2011. (See the calendar program).
• The first day of the Symposium will focus on 11 oral paper session for the first theme.
• The second day of the Symposium will focus on 9 oral paper session for the second theme and post session.

SPECIAL FIELD TRIPS
There will be organized post-symposium six days field trip on mapping, monitoring and engineering of mountain and arid land permafrost in the Hovsgol and Hangai regions, on August 27-September 1, 2011. Estimated cost for the trip per person is US $ 600-800, depending on number of participants. It includes transportation (microbus and airplane), accommodation, food, short field guide and other expenses. Field trip guide: N.Sharkhuu
