- Is the main Swedish museum for Sami culture. Ájtte Museum in Jokkmokk - the Sami centre Jokkmokk, just north of the Arctic Circle, has always been an obvious meeting place for trade, gatherings, festivals and meetings between friends from far and near. Website in Swedish only.

- Amongst other exhibitions, have "Original inhabitants of North America" as a theme at the museum. Among other things, the collections display a totem pole from the northwest coast of America, ceramics, textiles and weapons.

- The Göteborg City Museum displays cultural history from antiquity to the present. Here you can for example find Äskekärrsskeppet, the only ship from the Viking era on display in Sweden. The middle ages exhibition is full of ecclesiastical history, with finds from Gothenburgs forerunners and their contacts with Western Europe.

- The Swedish National Maritime Museums works to preserve maritime cultural heritage. The maritime heritage includes all human activities that have taken place on the sea or have been influenced by the sea and its proximity - from family outings in the rowing boat to naval missions during the Cold War. From wars between great powers to forgotten shipwrecks on the sea bed.

- Various exibitions and collections: Exhibitions of polar interest: exhibition See Svalbard. The island lies between 75th and 80th parallels (compared with the Arctic circle that lies on the 66th parallel). The photos show about the nature, the ice and the lives of those who live there. By this exhibition the Museum pays attention to the International Polar Year. Other exhibition: The Sami are one of the world´s indigenous peoples, living in four countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia). Formerly they were called Lapps or Laplanders. Their "land" in the four countries is today called Sápmi.

- Einar Wallquist, the "Lapland Doctor", was fascinated by the people and the nature, which served as subjects for him as an artist and an author. And he collected... Today his collection and documentation of the life of the Sami and the settlers is a cultural treasure.

- The Vasa Museum collection consists of the (Warship) Vasa itself /which sank in 1628) and all of the objects that were found with the ship. There are several thousand objects that either belong to the ship or were on-board. Unlike the other Swedish National Maritime Museums, the Naval Museum and the Maritime Museum, the Vasa Museum does not continue to collect new objects – except of course when they dive again to the site of the shipwreck!

- Museum is very active regarding the Arctic. Here is an example of their activities/exhibitions from October 2008: - Nights of Light - days of Darkness. An exhibition along the polar circle. - A project financed by the European Union about cultural traditions in the northern dimension (building sami huts at our open air museum, cultural tourism and cooperation with Umeå University. - Rock Art in Sápmi, an attempt to combine archaeology, story telling and fine arts whithin the Barents area. - Internation Polar Year: an archaeological excavation of a Stone Age dwelling site in the mountain area in the County of Västerbotten.
