- Oldest Museum In Siberia. The Artifact Depository of our museum is the largest one in the East of Russia. The museum pieces stored there have to do with the material and spiritual culture of the peoples of Central Asia. The majority of the museum pieces were gathered in the exploring expeditions held by the outstanding scientists, members of the East Siberian Department of the Emperor's Russian Geographic Society.

- The eldest russian state museum. Very extensive displays and collections relating to the culture and ethnohistory of Siberian native peoples. Includes artefacts from Alaska and Canadian Northwest Coast cultures collected during Russian America period. The Museum was named by Peter the Great. An exposition of the Museum consists of two parts: archaeology and ethnography of the southern part of Russian Far East. The Museum has unique collections, authentic relics of scientific, historical and cultural value.

- The Pomor Museum is located on a quay dating back to ca. 1850, and portrays the Pomor trade from the18th century, has Russian exhibitions and information on multi-cultural links in the north, Russian mining and history on Svalbard. Especially worthwhile are the excellent geological exhibits and the collection of artefacts suggesting Russian activity in Svalbard prior to the archipelago's accepted European 'discovery' by Willem Barents.

- Museum started with The Polar movable exhibition in 1922. In 1930, the Museum founded a department of the All-Union Arctic Institute and it opened its doors for visitors in 1937. In 1958 - after joining Antarctic display, the Museum renamed to the Arctic and Antarctic Museum. Finally, in 1998 - by the Russian Government Decree Museum became The State Russian Arctic and Antarctic Museum. Nowadays, the Museum is the only of its kind in Russia and the largest polar Museum in the World with collection of ca. 75,000 artifacts.
