The collections cover the 4.500 years old history of Greenland and derive from all parts of the country. The fine ethnographical material from Ammassalik and Thule were collected around 1880-1920. The recent colonial period is mainly represented by clothing and tools. The museum also has an extensive art- and photo-collection. Huge Archaeological Inuit collection.

The permanent sections of the museum include an introduction to the history of the region, interior exhibitions from different ages and various social classes, as well as subject-oriented exhibitions, e.g. about kayaks and the Norse settlers.

The museum exhibits a number of old Eskimo boats, fishing gear and national costumes. They have also reconstructed 'the blue room' and 'red room' where the Knud Rasmussen and Charles Lindbergh have stayed. In 2006 the museum started a project to build a umiak, which is a traditional Greenland boat with a wooden frame covered with sealskin. Has no direct web site.

Qasigiannguit museum consists of five buildings with different exhibitions. There is a collection of stuffed artic birds. Permanent exhibition of Qeqertasussuk settlement. The settlement dates back to the 4500 years old Saqqaq culture, which represents mans first settlement in West Greenland. At the exhibition you can see the fantastic well preserved original objects of the Saqqaq culture.

The purpose of the Museum is collecting and registering objects from the Thule area. These objects describe the Inuit story in the area going back more than 3,000 years. Many subjects displayed are related to explorer's Knud Rasmussen's activities.
