Article of 17th December 2008 The European Parliament voted to endorse a package of bills which will enable EU Governments to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions.
The six bills were approved with an overwhelming votes in favour and this will be the start to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020.
However, according to environmental campaigners, the plan falls short of what is needed to tackle climate change.
Joris den Blanken from Greenpeace said "The Parliament has marginalized itself by lacking the courage to make even small changes to the compromises negotiated."
