History

This vessel, whose name means “snow dragon” in English, was constructed in Ukraine with the identical Russian ship Vasiliy Golovnin. In 1999, this ship sailed through Canadian waters in the Arctic undetected and arrived at a small village on the Canadian Arctic coast without resistance. A second Arctic voyage was made four years later as well. Today, it is mostly used to supply two Chinese Antarctic bases.
