History: Opened on 29th October 1969. It is being used year round.
Location: Vicecomodoro Marambio Island, (previously known as Seymour Island), NE of Snow Hill island, Weddell Sea – (64°14′S 56°37′W / )
Notes:
Prior to the base's foundation a team led by Vice-Commodore Mario Luis Olezza built the 1200m (3800ft) long, 40m (120ft) wide landing track, the first one in the continent. Still one of the most frequently used airstrip due to the suitability of its airfield for wheeled landing.

Cosmic ray observations
Glaciology - sea ice zone (since 1969)
Ionospheric/auroral observations (since 1969)
Meteorological observations (since 1969)
Stratospheric ozone monitoring
Also: Ozone concentration measurements, using EVA differential absorption spectrometer and NO2 measurements using EVA differential absorption spectrometer, (IAA in cooperation with INTA, Spain)
Ultraviolet radiation measurement, for surveillance and characterization of UV radiation (IAA in cooperation with Instituto Nacional de Meteorología, Spain (INM) and Meteorological Institute of Finland (MIF))
Area and buildings:
There are 27 buildings at the base. It also has a Heliport (used only during summer).
Interesting Trivia:
The Island/Base was named after Lieutenant Colonel Gustavo Argentino MARAMBIO who was born in Río Cuarto, Córdoba Province, on 21st September 1918 and who flew over Margarita Bay in the north east of the Antarctic Peninsula with the AVRO LINCOLN registration LV-ZEI called "Cruz del Sur".. He died tragically in an air accident in Mugueta, Santa Fe Province on 12th November 1953.
