Waved Albatross

The waved albatross have a wingspan of over two meters, and can live up to 45 years of age. Once the female has found the right partner, the two will stay together until one of them dies. Year after year they will return to the exact same location to breed. Egg laying starts during April, and by the beginning of June, the eggs will start hatching. Only one large egg is laid each year, and is incubated by both parents for about two months. By December, the chick will have reached adult size. During their fourth or fifth year, they will head back to the mating grounds to find a lifetime partner.
