Antarctic has a rich and diverse spread of animal life, the best know of which are the penguins and whales. The cold Antarctic waters provide a nutrient rich environment which sustains a long and complex food chain, the basis of which is plankton and krill.

This section covers the various animals found in Antarctica. Take a look at the categories of animals on the left to find out more detailed information on the species found in and around Antarctica.
